G2-G3 Evolution Crews (2003-2005)

In G2 & G3, The Crews Carried On, or should we say, Evolved?

Dudes released in the "Evolution" Crews now have arms.

Some changes occurred after G1:

    • Dudes started coming with a pack of 5 trading cards in single packs.
    • Unfortunately, there were no more Dudettes. Although they had G2 concept art of the Dudettes with arms on the website and on Series 1 cards in 2003. But, they were even taken out of the trading cards in Series 2 in 2004/the start of G3.
    • After Generation 2 in 2003, there was no longer Creatures (Dudes #101-112) or Grimm Dudes.

Notes about the G2 and G3 Evolution Crew single packs:

  • Generation 2 dudes had static arms and were released in 2003 across Evolution Crew 1-3. All of Crew 2 and half of Crew 1 are re-tweaked molds of G1 dudes with added arms. But, Crew 3 is all original molds.
  • Evolution Crew 4-6 (2004) and 7-9 (2005) continue the established 3 crews per year. But, these dudes were Generation 3 molds, meaning their arms now are bendable and adjustable.
  • When G3 rolled around, the line also took most of their new molds from Crews 1 and 3, and gave them new bendy armed G3 molds in new color variants. Hence why you may see a Crew 3 Snake or Jimmy with bendy arms.
  • Best of all, Dudes look less like thumbs. They have arms, accessories, are more clothed, and you wouldn't be able to tell they are sentient fingers without the nail on the back of their heads.
Alright, now that I've said my spiel, onto the Evolution Crews!

Evolution Crew 1 (2003)

The Dudes in Evolution Crew 1 came out strong, ranging from daredevils to monsters to robots to kung fu dudes, and more!
Crash, Pierce, Fu-Man, Brad, Barney, and Jack are reused faces/torsos from G1. But, they have added arms and different foot poses to give them better balance.
Eddie, Dr Digit P.I., Fletcher, Tek, and Bruce are all STRONG new molds.
This series had more new molds than Crew 2, which was released at the same time as Crews 1 and 3.

I'm not sure why this crew only had 11 while the latter crews had a slate of 12 dudes?

Evolution Crew 2 (2003)

Crew 2 is a bit of a dud, as every dude is a G1 mold with added arms. But, these dudes got second or third variants that are among the most colorful in the toy line. Not terrible since Crews 1 and 2 were the first crews made on a time crunch to start the whole dudes with arms/Evolution marketing.

Evolution Crew 3 (2003)

This Crew is the only G2/2003 Crew to have ALL new molds. In fact, Nick the ninja is the only pre-established dude with a new mold. The 11 other dudes are NEW dudes/characters entirely!

Of the first 3 crews, which were the only G2 single pack crews, Crew 3 is by far the BEST IN G2!

Evolution Crew 4 (2004)

Crew 4 marked the start of Generation 3 (bendy arms) and was the first new crew of 2004. However, it was kind of a weird experimental crew.

Almost every dude (minus Duke with his new taller Cowboy mold) are reissues of the G1 molds from 2002 with added bendable arms. Likewise, by messing with the molds, their feet came out super flimsy.

Evolution Crew 5 (2004)

Evolution Crew 6 (2004)

Evolution Crew 7 (2005)

Evolution Crew 8 (2005)

Evolution Crew 9 (2005)

The Evolution Crews Introduced Tech Deck Dude Trading Cards:

Crews 1-6 (2003-2004) came with the Series 1 cards:

Crews 7-9 (2005) came with the Series 2 cards:
The Toys R Us 6-Packs (2005-2009) and 2-Packs (2006) also come with the Series 2 cards! But, any 6-packs from 2008-2009 no longer had bios on the back of each card.
This was so Spin Master could cut costs.
