#004 - Sumo San

Sumo San is characterized by his sumo wrestler persona, body fat, and thong underwear. As someone who has collected Tech Deck Dudes for 15+ years, I was sure that Sumo San only had 5 variants. This year, I found that to be untrue as a sixth variant manifested.  

Original Crew 3 Plug-Feet Variant (2000)

Single Pack??? Variant #3 (2001 or 2002?)

This variant of Sumo San is very little known and extremely rare.
We at the site are unsure if this came out on a retail shelf or was an unreleased sample.

G2 Sumo San:

G2 DownHill Play-Set Sumo San

Downhill Dude Play Set version (2002-2003)

He was included with Lenny in the initial release and manufacturing runs of the play-set, but the two were replaced by Al Pine and Fred in later runs from late 2003-early 2004. 

Note: This version was then re-used in an RC pack with RC Billy

Sumo San has two molds in G3: 

The first is a mold for the Magnetic Action Series, with extra magnets and accessories.

Sumo San's Scuba Squad mold and accessories had a bit of a legacy on the toy line...

First, his sword was re-tooled in black with a slightly different hilt in 2005 for Evolution Crew 9 Ronin and his many variants across the toy line from 2005-2008.



His bitten fish was re-issued as Jimmy's dead fish Zood for Zoods Crew 3 (2006)

HOLIDUDE MOLD 

The second mold is RARE (ONLY 500 MADE). 

This Sumo SANTA was released at the 2005 X-Concepts Holiday party to guests. 

I was lucky to get him, these go for about $50 since TDD is a very niche toyline, so even a 1 in 500 dude isn't going to go for hundreds of bucks, that'd be ridiculous. 

Here's a look at his packaging; it's unique and boxed compared to the standard bubble single packs. 

This Reindeer is actually Cluckers, who traded away his chicken suit to spread holiday cheer! 

The Cluckers Reindeer design was used for the Holidude in 2006!
