#022 - Flake

Flake is the first "G1" snowboarder. In fact, Flake is the first TDD to include a board other than a skateboard. Flake is often confused with Al Pine, not ONLY by collectors, but also the creators. As ridiculous as it sounds, I have come across trading cards labeled "Flake," with a picture of Al Pine, and seen a promo video of Flake with a picture of Al Pine as well. Flake has 2 variants, and was never created with magnets.

G1 Flake:

Crew 1 Single Pack Variant (2000)

JcPenney 3-pack variant (Released with Fletcher & Stevie J)
** G1 Flake was never created with magnets. I put this Flake on a magnetic board because I felt like it. What are you gonna do about it?

Clearly, this is a mislabeled depiction of Al Pine- Or maybe they originally intended Al Pine to be a new mold for Flake? (A la Stevie J or Billy, who made multiple G1 molds?)

This error is also seen in the 2001 TV ad. Either X-Concepts could not differentiate between their own dudes or Al Pine was originally planned as a second mold for Flake?
We'll [probably] never know, but at least there's two dudes sharing the slopes to keep each other company!

G3 Flake

Despite being one of the original Crew 1 dudes from 2000, Flake didn't get a mold in G2.
Generation 3 Flake was released in Blast Series 1 with a pull-back BlastBoard.
He has 2 variants in G3, both in the Blast Series. However, he is the ONLY dude of the six Blast Series molds to not also have a mainline Evolution Series mold.

Blast Series 1 (2004) (available in BB single pack or 3-packs)
Blast Series 2 Single Pack (2005)
(Re-released in a TRU 6-Pack in 2006 without his blastboard)
